Counseling /Psychotherapy is a voluntary personal growth process initiated by the client. This professional process helps to work through certain specific targets (disturbances/difficulties) of client’s life.
It is a mutually interactive process where by a therapist skillfully applies her scientific knowledge & clinical experience to facilitate clients' growth and progress.
The aim of therapy is to alleviate painful emotions and sufferings of the past, stabilize the present and help the client cope with future challenges.
Just as we visit a physician to alleviate physical discomfort such as fever or diabetes, emotional sufferings, thought disturbances and behavioural concerns are intervened and worked through psychological consultation.
Client is also an active agent of change, hence without clients’ willingness, therapy process cannot be effective.
Following are some client guidelines that clients are expected to abide, for efficient & effective therapeutic process:
• The process requires for a regular weekly 45-minute meeting usually on a fixed time slot provided to client (Ex: client A -Every Tuesday at 11.30), unless agreed otherwise before commencing.
• New client appointments are based on an opening and slot availability. Clients can be put on a wait-list, if no slot is available.
• Slots are usually booked well in advance, at least a fortnight.
• Clients have complete right to confidentiality, hence no identifying client details or any of their personal information is shared with anyone (family / doctors), without clients written permission.
• In case of minor clients, first session involves meeting only parents. Clients above 18 can seek consultation directly.
• Punctuality is highly expected, if client is late, sessions still end on the time decided to respect other clients time. If a client is going to be more than 10 minutes late, it is expected that client calls or messages and informs the same. 15 minutes gap is kept between 2 client appointments so that every client’s confidentiality and identity is respected.
• Cell phones are kept on silent (not vibrating) unless mutually accepted by the therapist and client, only occasionally and in special circumstances.
• Last minute cancellations, (cancellations less than 2 working days), and no shows are usually treated as fully chargeable sessions.
• Uninformed break of more than 2 weeks will involve filling up of client’s slot, and if the client wishes to re-start, it will depend on future slot availability. In such case of an abrupt termination, clients are expected to clear pending dues, if any, within 15 days.
• A break request from therapy of more than 2 weeks calls for client making advance payment for safeguarding their session slot.
• Client and therapist shall have minimal in between session contact unless an emergency; clients’ communication via message will be reverted to earliest possible for therapist, ideally within 48 working hours.
• Diligently following therapeutic resources that are built in sessions, honest & open sharing, regularity & punctuality bring effective, speedy and lasting results.
All sessions are online only and entail complete advance payment through bank transfer only.
